Every design has a story to tell.

Services first limited offer a range of multimedia services specialising in 3-D modelling and animation for visualising of complex technical and architectural designs.

Visualisation is not just about being able to understand 3-D software. A well told story doesn’t rely on the latest software. We produce marketing materials that are exciting and engaging to viewers.

3-D computer graphics or CGI greatly help in getting across complex ideas to stakeholders and other non-technical personnel, and can be extremely useful for magazines brochures, websites and other marketing material.

Whether it be photo real or non-photo real stills and animated visualisations, flybys and walkthroughs. These animations bring designs to life. They communicate why the design is the way it is, how it will perform, and what it will feel like.

We can create accurate light simulations to determine not only what the building will look like at different times of day, but also the shadows but it will cast, well before the first brick is laid.

From pure aesthetics to meeting government regulations, digital prototyping gets rid of all the design guesswork and helps everyone involved in the project know exactly what to expect. Being able to show people your design puts you in a better position to create, to communicate and to persuade. Because seeing is believing.

What is rendering?

A term which is used often in the 3-D industry is ‘rendering’.

In computer graphics terms, rendering is simply the process of generating an image from a model. The more complex a model the longer it will take to render, therefore increasing the cost, this is why you’ll hardly ever see a visualisation studio give their prices up front because every project is customised towards the clients needs.

Understanding your needs

Presentation needs are driven by the client but the presentation style is the responsibility of studio.

Because every project is unique, we always start by asking four questions.

1 who is your target audience?
2 What is the particular message that you want to convey?
3 what is the scale of your project?
4 When is your deadline?

How long does it take?

Most projects can be completed within 2-6 weeks depending on complexity and your requirements.

Building a Cinematic 3D Animation

Building cinematics requires the use of filmic techniques and technologies. Animations are used with great success for design reviews, client presentations, marketing communications, and competitions.

What is involved?

Telling a story

An often overlooked part of the process is the storyboard, the storyboard helps to better focus on what is important and helps get the clients message across, defining specific shops angles and frame composition. This is the first challenge in creating an engaging cinematic.

The storyboard can sometimes be as simple as a few scribbles on a piece of paper, after the client has given the brief it is the studios responsibility to create the storyboard.

The Gear

When building a cinematic we utilise the same as a small feature film utilising HD cameras, complex camera and lighting rigs, actors, chroma-key studios, sound recordings and complex postproduction.

Characters

It is often difficult to provide an emotional hook in a film without any characters. We can include people in a scene by using 3-D virtual characters or even by employing actors and using a green screen to integrate them into a virtual scene.

Composition

The things that go into making a good film include choice of camera angles, use of colour, frame composition, and pacing.

Quality Review

To try and ensure consistency within our projects we have a quality control and review process which is integral to the project.

How much does it cost?

This entirely dependent your needs, to help us give you an accurate estimate the more information you can give us about a project the better. This would include brief description of the project any technical drawings available, photographs, and any other relevant information. For more complex projects it is sometimes necessary to set up a meeting to discuss your ideas and needs in more detail.
